Info For The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on Sun 11th Sept 2022

Event Info

SUNDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2022 AT 06:45

Meet at the car park (pay and display) at Horton-In-Ribblesdale, Post code for sat nav is BD24 0HH.

26 miles across the three highest mountains in the Yorkshire Dales.

You will need to check in with Vicky Sears at 6:45am on the car park at Horton-In-Ribblesdale.

We will leave Horton in Ribblesdale at 7am to climb Pen Y Ghent, the first of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Notewe will leaving at exactly 7am so prepare to arrive early.

Once you have hit the summit, you will descend then cross the moors, following the Ribble Way, where you will see the amazing structure of the Ribblehead Viaduct, subject of the ITV Drama ‘Jericho’, following the Settle to Carlisle railway. Here you will commence your climb up the second peak, Whernside.

Once you have hit the summit of Whernside, you will descend and cross farmland to the final peak Ingleborough.

Once you have summited Ingleborough you have a 4 mile descent back to Horton in Ribblesdale, where the Golden Lion pub will gladly serve you with refreshments to celebrate your success.

It will be hard, but it will be an experience that you will never, ever forget.

Therefore, if you want something to push you out of your comfort zone, then this is it!! It truly is one of the most amazing days ever.

Contingency

We will all set off together but there may be a need to split into two groups during the challenge.

Paul Hammerton / Michelle Sumner – Group 1

Rach / Rick – Group 2

There will be a ratio of one trained and in date first aider for each group.

If you leave the event you much check out with your group leader – don’t just depart without telling anybody.

There will be a support vehicle containing trained medical staff (Lorraine), first aid kit and essential emergency supplies. Anybody not continuing on the event can be transported by this vehicle. Thanks to David and Vicky Sears for making up the remainder of this support crew.
