Spaghetti Bolognese

Description

Deliciously, rich Italian classic without the calories


Ingredients

Scale

250g dried spaghetti

1 medium onion

2 garlic cloves

500g lean steak mince

Tin of chopped tomatoes

Quarter of a tube of tomato puree

Dried basil

Dried oregano

salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Dice 1 medium onion and fry in 10 sprays of one calorie oil until softened with 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped finely, in a heavy based pan.
  2. Add lean steak mince to the pan and brown it.
  3. Add one tin of chopped tomatoes, quarter of a tube of tomato purée, teaspoon of dried basil, and a teaspoon of dried oregano.
  4. Stir then bring to a simmer, then just leave to bubble gently whilst pasta is cooking.
  5. In a separate pan bring water to the boil and add spaghetti. Boil spaghetti for 15 mins, until cooked through.
  6. Drain spaghetti, combine with sauce and serve.

Notes

Vegetarians can use quorn mince instead of beef mince -305 calories per portion

Swapping beef mince for turkey mince – total cals 355 calories per portion
