These make a fabulous alternative to pigs in blankets for a buffet dinner, roast dinner, or a delicious snack and are about a third of the calories. I tweaked the original recipe that was sent in to make it even lower calories. You have to be careful though, because these are so tasty once you start you might not be able to stop.
Dates are a great source of fibre, vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins, iron, copper and magnesium. You could make a batch of these then save them in the fridge to have as a nutritious snack over a few days.

Ingredients
12 Medjool dates, pitted
6 slices of parma ham, cut in half to make 12 pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C fan or 200C non fan
- Soak 12 cocktail sticks in cold water
- Wrap each date in streaky bacon, secure with a cocktail stick and place in baking tray.
- Place in oven and cook for 20 minutes.

Keep in an airtight container in the fridge and have as snacks, or serve up at a party or for a picky tea.
