So far since joining us in 2017, Debbie Hurtley-Smith has lost 4 stones in weight, reduced her medication, and no longer has the need for 2 crutches. Her journey has been incredible to watch.
She has progressed from completing our exercises in classes, seated, to fully participating in the session. Debbie has also undertaken the couch to 5 k program and climbed Pendle Hill via Barley Steps, something which at one time she would have never thought possible.
After climbing Pendle Hill, Debbie asked us for another challenge. So of course, we had to oblige. Her next challenge was to complete 10 miles, on our ‘Walking miles for Milly’s Smiles’ event. She smashed that and actually walked the Half Marathon distance of 13 miles – we think she is absolutely incredible!
Debbie has come back for more, and her next challenge has been set, and this time she is going to climb the highest mountain in Yorkshire and the middle peak of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – Whernside. The date has been set for Thursday 19th September 2019, and if any of our members can make it Debbie would love your support.
The 9 mile walk will leave Ribblehead, at 10 am, on Thursday 19th September 2019, will climb up to over 2400 feet to the summit of the mountain and down again and will probably take most of the day.
Meeting point is the Ribblehead viaduct, Ribblehead, Low Sleights Rd, Carnforth LA6 3AS Look for the butty van and the pub called the Station Inn.
